field notes
In mixed hardwoods. The nearest big tree was a beech, though it was probably twenty feet away. There are also maple, oak, black cherry, and buckeye in that area. Volva was approximately 1.5" deep. KOH was negative on the cap surface and gills. No odor even when crushed, and it had a mild flavor. Being sent to Rod Tulloss for further examination. Possibly an undescribed species.
