On last year's dead leaves hanging, until new leaves form, from branches of Halesia carolina. The type collection by J H Miller was made in March 1938 5 miles south of this collection. The only other collection in MyCoPortal was also made by Miller in 1939 less than half a mile from this collection (at "Tallassee Shoals"). I have not done microscopy but the macro-description fits and the host tree is the same.
